In an interview with Will Yang(Brand Director, Oppo India) it is clear that Oppo applied a strong strategies to enter into the Indian market. He mentioned that India is one of the fastest growing country in terms of economy and it is considered as rising star. As the brand Oppo is considered as young brand so they need to place it among the the target audience starting from 18 years of age and India has a huge population in that bracket. They start focusing on target group by associating with cricket and entertainment, but this year they have a target to focus on fashion segment because a lot of customers having age bracket between 18-30 years are involved in this industry. According to him India is the most important market in the overseas business for Oppo’s growth.
He also mentioned that in India Oppo is performing at it’s highest level which Oppo did in China in almost 8 years. So it’s a quite achievement for India and they are going to invest in India in a huge amount. According to him if you focus on product sales will eventually not a problem.
What you use for advertisement??
Traditional media is still very relevant, effective and efficient. Traditional media such as GECs (General Entertainment channel) are very important in India. And as the Internet audience rising rapidly that is also becoming a big channel. At Oppo we continue to regular advertising like out of the home advertising, billboards etc. Platform changes but what actually not changes is our target audience. Association with TV series like Big Boss has helped immensly so far to reach to huge amount of audience.
What is the role of tagline “Selfie expert” for your brand
It was totally based on Indian consumer’s mind and yes it helped a lot to make it a successful brand. With this tagline we distinguish our product from other players available in the same market.
