Greaves cotton enters into an agreement with Piaggio vehicles India to develop new diesel and clean energy power train, complaint with BS-VI emmision norms. With these clean burning and alternate fuel engines, the auto ancillary players aims to revolutionize the country’s three-wheeler market by reducing substantial fuel cost. The company had recently tied up with California based Pinnacle technology to offer opposed piston CNG engines. Nagesh Basavanhali, (MD) of Greaves Cotton say his company is investing in new technologies and building capabilities to meet the demand for fuel-agnostic, future ready solutions serving the last mile transportation market.
“Our new solutions will cover a range of fuel disel, petrol, CNG to electric which will continue to leverage our strength, he says”.
It may be recalled that Piaggio began it’s association with Greaves Cotton in 1998-99 when it bought over five million engines. The rs 1,800 cr turnover company is the market leader in the diesel-driven three-wheeler market and has sold over 5 million engines powering various cargo and passengers vehicle applications.
