Porsche 718 Cayman & 718 Boxster releases it’s price in India.
718 Cayman & 718 Boxster are priced at Rs 80.13 lakh and Rs 83.95 lakh respectively in Mumbai showroom.
Porsche has confirmed the revival of its legendary ‘718’ tag and has now taken the wraps of the upcoming refreshed Boxster which will come bearing the moniker, “718 Boxster“. The original 718 was one of the company’s most famous race-cars that won a multitude of races between the 50’s and 60’s.
Porsche has finally opened bookings in India for the Porsche 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster prior to their official launch, with price-tags of Rs 80.13 lakh and Rs 83.95 lakh (both ex-showroom Mumbai). Unlike the previous-generation cars, the convertible Boxster is more expensive than the coupé Cayman this time around.
After keeping the specifications of the cars under wraps for some time, the Volkswagen-owned German sportscar firm has finally revealed that the upcoming 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman will in fact come equipped with turbocharged flat-four engines, much like the original 718s.
The 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman are now powered by 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engines, as compared to the 3.4-litre, six-cylinder, naturally aspirated ones of the previous generation. The 2.0-litre engine will produce 300hp of power and 380Nm of torque, propelling both cars from 0-100kph in 5.1 seconds, and onto a top speed of 275kph. Both cars come with a seven-speed automatic PDK gearbox.
Both cars come with ceramic brakes, bi-xenon headlamps with integrated four-point LED daytime running lights, electronically-folding exterior mirrors, sports seats, a Porsche 918-inspired sports steering wheel, the Porsche Communication Management system and an eight-speaker music system (six-speaker in the 718 Boxster) as standard.
In terms of interior design, the 718 Boxster gets a new dash and the newest version of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) which includes a big touchscreen and offers seamless mobile phone connectivity. A navigation unit will be available as an option.
The 0-100km/h timings and top speeds stand at 4.7 seconds and 275km/h for the standard, and 4.2 seconds and 285km/h for the ‘S’ model. Additionally, you can even choose to get the Sport Chrono Package which includes individual program settings in addition to the standard drive modes- Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus. A Short Response Button has also been added which allows the driver to get maximum responsiveness from the engine for 20 seconds. The car will begin rolling out this spring.
Porsche will be launching the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman as soon as next month, while deliveries will probably begin in November this year.
The Legacy continues to rule our heart for so long now, that each old model designs look brand new, every time we look at it. Porsche is simply the best in the business.
